Accessibility

It's personal (and professional)

Did you know that around 95% of websites aren't accessible according to WebAIM's 2025 report? I'm autistic, and I experience the web in my own way. It's given me a firsthand appreciation for why digital spaces need to work for everyone, regardless of how they browse or interact with a site. I simply don't want my work to be part of that statistic.

My goal is to build websites that are not just visually appealing, but genuinely usable and welcoming. It's about designing for people.

My promise to you

I follow the best practices laid out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, aiming for Level AA as the base, and AAA whenever possible. This is how I approach every project. Here’s what that means for the sites I build (including mine):

  • Keyboard-friendly navigation.
  • Alternative text for images.
  • Clear and consistent headings.
  • Readable fonts and text sizes.
  • Colour contrast: I ensure there's a strong contrast between text and background colours.
  • Resizable text: You can zoom in on my website up to 200% without losing any content or functionality.
  • Accessible forms: My forms are designed to be easy to fill out with clear labels and instructions.
  • Captions for multimedia: I provide captions and/or transcripts for all audio and video content.
  • Responsive design.
  • Consistent navigation and design.
  • Animation control: Any animations on my site can be paused or stopped with a simple button click, ensuring they don’t distract or interfere with your experience.

I'm always learning and improving

Accessibility isn't a "one and done" thing. I'm constantly reviewing my work and learning new ways to make it better.
